Warriors Player: “No Way” Durant Returns to Golden State After Fight With Draymond

The war of words Durant had with this teammate may have paved the way for his exit from the Bay.

Even though Kevin Durant wants to keep the drama between himself and teammate Draymond Green “in-house,” things are starting to leak.

One of them is the notion that what Green said to Durant during their altercation on Monday night was bad enough that the latter won’t be returning to Golden State following this season.

Durant is a free agent this summer and the question of whether he will return to the Warriors has loomed over the team since opening night.

Players, including Green, have felt that vibe and have not exactly appreciated it. So, when he got into it with Durant, Green brought it up, according to Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic.

Thompson writes: “[Green] reminded Durant the Warriors were winning before Durant showed up so he wouldn’t stand for Durant talking to him as if he were a scrub. Green accused Durant of making the whole season about him even though he was going to leave after this season. Green let out his frustrations about how Durant has handled free agency – keeping his options open and keeping the story alive, consuming the Warriors and their season with talk of what Durant will do next.”

Sources also said Green called Durant a b*tch multiple times.

Following the incident, team management sided with Durant and suspended Green for one game (which the Warriors won).

However, one player said the damage has already been done and that Durant will be leaving Golden State despite higher-ups at the team having his back.

“With what was said, there is already no way Durant is coming back,” the player said. “The only hope is that they can say this summer, ‘See, KD. We’ve got your back. We protected you from Draymond.’”
