Henry Cavill To Star In Netflix Drama Series ‘The Witcher’

The eight-episode show is based on the best-selling fantasy book.

Henry Cavill is going to star in a new Netflix drama called The Witcher. The eight-episode series is based on the bestselling fantasy book by author Andrzej Sapkowski, and is described as an epic tale of fate and family, reports The Hollywood Reporter. Cavill will be playing Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter who is trying to find his place in the world where people often turn out to be more wicked than the beasts he’s tracking. But then, destiny sends him towards a powerful sorceress and a young princess with a dangerous secret. Together, the three must figure out how to navigate the increasingly volatile world together.

Cavill is said to be a massive fan of Sapkowski’s series. This marks his first regular TV series role since his four-season co-starring role as Charles Brandon in Showtime’s The Tudors. Cavill has recently been in films such as Mission Impossible: Fallout, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League and Man of Steel.

The Witcher short stories and novels have already been adapted into a film, TV series, video games and graphic novels in Poland, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
