Quentin Taratino’s Charles Manson-centered film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, finally has a Manson. The film, stacked with heavyweights such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Al Pacino, Dakota Fanning, Kurt Russel and Margot Robbie, is set in 1969 Los Angeles. It follows DiCaprio’s character, Rick Dalton, the former star of a western TV series, and Pitt, who plays Dalton’s longtime stunt double and friend Cliff Booth. DiCaprio and Pitt’s characters are false, but their stories intersect with the very real story of the Manson murders, reports Cosmopolitan, because Dalton is living next to actress Sharon Tate (played by Robbie), who was famously murdered during the killing spree.
For weeks, it has been unknown who would be playing the infamous serial killer. But People reports that it will be actor Damon Herriman, who is originally from Australia. He is most familiar to Americans as Dewey Crowe in FX’s Justified, but Once Upon A Time in Hollywood will be his first major role in an American movie.
The true story that the movie is based on took place one night in 1969, when Tate, pregnant and married to now-disgraced filmmaker Roman Polanski, was killed at their Los Angeles home. The murders were carried out by members of Manson’s so-called “family,” or followers of the cult leader.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is set to be released in July 2019, just weeks before the 26th anniversary of Tate’s death on August 9.Read the full story at Cosmopolitan
