Quentin Tarantino is one of the most acclaimed filmmakers in Hollywood, even though he has only made eight films. That’s why it is a big deal that he has a new movie. But Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood has been shrouded by intrigue and mystery since before the script was even finished.

And not all of the talk about the film has been good. Tarantino was forced to switch production companies after the disgrace and downfall of longtime collaborator Harvey Weinstein. Then, Tarantino himself was criticized for the way he treated Uma Thurman on the set of Kill Bill.

Now, though, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is moving forward, and the details seem pretty promising, according to Esquire. It stars both Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio, who play aging western stars. DiCaprio is “Rick Dalton, former star of a western TV series, while Pitt will be his longtime stunt double, Cliff Booth,” reports Esquire.

The cast also includes Margot Robbie, Dakota Fanning, Luke Perry, Damian Lewis, Emile Hirsch, Burt Reynolds, Timothy Olyphant, Kurt Russell, Michael Madsen, and Tim Roth.

The movie was originally rumored to be about the murder of Sharon Tate and others, all orchestrated by Charles Manson, but Tarantino has since confirmed that the events of the movie simply take place around the gruesome event.

The Hollywood Reporter says that film will hit theaters August 9, 2019. It will be produced by Sony.
