A new airplane seat takes a page from space travel to make flying more comfortable. It simulates zero gravity via gyroscopic movement to help travelers sleep better while flying.

The space-age seat, designed by London-based mattress company Simba, reclines into a horizontal position that mimics weightless by easing back pressure and reducing tension in the neck, shoulders, arms, and legs. According to PSFK, the mattress’s ergonomic position helps improve poor circulation, a common ailment on long flights.

Simba’s high-tech airline seat uses its memory foam material wrapped in a pod that uses a suite of technologies to induce and enhance sleep. Sensors are embedded in the mattress and walls to regulate body temperature, block out sound, as well as monitor light and humidity. The “sleep eco-system” also comes equipped with an orange light-therapy system and scent diffuser to create a relaxing environment.

A few different commercial and private aviation companies are in talks to adopt the futuristic airline seat. NetJets is among the companies interested in collaborating with Simba, a press release said.
