Three soccer players, including star Alex Morgan, were kicked out of Walt Disney World in Florida after an argument at a restaurant.
The Orange County sheriff’s department issued Morgan, along with Orlando City SC players Giles Barnes, Donny Toia, and Toia’s wife, Courtney, citations, reports The Guardian.
According to The Guardian, Barnes cut in front of another guest while partying in the United Kingdom section of the park. A “verbal altercation” took place, and officers were called.
Officers took Barnes to the front of the park so a “trespass warning could be issued,” writes The Guardian, but then they had to go back to the bar to get Morgan. Morgan was “screaming” and seemed “to be highly impaired,” according to a copy of the incident obtained by The Guardian.
Morgan, as well as Donny and Courtney Toia, were brought to a conference room, where police briefly detained them before issuing citations. They were then escorted out of the park, The Guardian reports.
Morgan had posted a picture from the party on Instagram earlier that day. The Guardian writes that it appears they were involved in a popular drinking game, where you drink in each of the themed zones.
According to The Guardian, Morgan has 3.4 million followers on Twitter and has appeared on the cover of Fifta 2016 with Lionel Messi. She is one of America’s most famous soccer players, having won a gold medal with the USA team at the 2012 Olympics in London, as well as the 2015 Women’s World Cup. She is married to Servando Carrasco, another Orlando player, who was not cited in the incident on Sunday.
The star is also well-known for seeking better pay for female players. She told The Guardian earlier this year that to force a change, “sometimes you need to stand up.” She also said you need to know what you’re worth, not just what you’re getting paid.
“We’re not scared,” she said, according to The Guardian. “To move the women’s game ahead we need to do what’s necessary. I feel other national teams are looking at us for that guidance.”
