Tom Brady: Aaron Rodgers Would Throw for 7,000 Yards Every Year With Pats

"He's so much more talented than me," Brady said of the Packers quarterback ahead of "SNF."

He’s got a great arm, but as anyone who has ever seen him run knows, Tom Brady’s physical gifts are somewhat limited.

It’s Brady’s mental preparation and competitiveness that have helped him become the greatest quarterback in NFL history … and playing in the offensive system of the New England Patriots certainly hasn’t hurt.

To his credit, he admits it.

In a conversation with another NFL coach within the past few seasons, Brady said Aaron Rodgers — who he will be facing on Sunday Night Football — would have even more success than he’s had if the Green Bay quarterback played for Bill Belichick.

“He’d throw for 7,000 yards every year,” Brady said, according to ESPN. “He’s so much more talented than me.”

The current single-season passing record is held by Peyton Manning (5,477 yards). Were he on the Pats, Rodgers might have a shot at breaking it if New England tweaked their system.

“The system would be different with Rodgers,” said an ex-Belichick assistant who has competed against Rodgers and Brady. “Those lateral underneath passes to those small receivers, that fits Brady better. Rodgers is such a good athlete with such a big arm, I think Bill would use more vertical stuff down the field and move the pocket more than he does with Brady.”

Brady and Rodgers have only faced each other once, a Green Bay win in 2014. That’s why the matchup on Sunday night between the 6-2 Patriots and 3-3-1 Packers is such a compelling one.
