Nick Foles and Case Keenum were at one point teammates with the Rams. This Sunday, they face each other as rivals in the NFC Championship Game in Philadelphia. Sam Bradford, a former Eagle, will be Keenum’s backup. Sports Illustrated attempted to follow the winding road that led to this crazy matchup. In March 2015, the Rams traded Sam Bradford to the Eagles for Nick Foles. Bradford had just missed a whole season after tearing his ACL for the second time in two years and Foles had fallen back down to earth after a stellar 2013 season. Days later, the Rams acquired Case Keenum from Texans. In November 2016, the Rams benched Foles for Keenum after a blowout loss to the Bears in which Foles completed less than 50 percent of his passes and didn’t have a touchdown. On April 28, 2016, the Eagles and Rams both made trades to climb to the top of the draft order with the intent of selecting a quarterback. LA took Jared Goff while Philly took Carson Wentz. During July 2016, Foles asked the Rams to cut him just before the start of training camp. They did, and Keenum stuck around to keep Goff’s seat warm. Andy Reid then brought Foles back to Philly on August 4, 2016. In September, Bradford was traded to the Vikings. He was placed on injured reserve and Keenum took over. Then, the Eagles QB, Carson Wentz, tore his ACL, meaning Foles took over. Now, Foles, Bradford and Keenum meet, all hoping to get to the Super Bowl.
