Russell Wilson started slow but finished strong as the Seahawks quarterback got hot in the fourth quarter in front of his home crowd and carried Seattle to a 27-24 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night.

Wilson threw for 225 yards on the night but his most important pass was a  15-yard dart to Ed Dickson with 5:08 left that pushed the Seahawks past the Pack for good.

Now at 5-5 following the win, Seattle is in the mix for a playoff spot and has a good shot at finishing 8-8 on the season at worst.

Afterward, Wilson reflected on his cold start and hot finish.

For the Packers, the defeat was brutal in both the short and long terms as it was another night where the team couldn’t hold a late lead and also hurts their chances of making the playoff down the line.

The result was especially disappointing for quarterback Aaron Rodgers who threw for two touchdowns in the first half and 332 yards overall, but was held to a single scoring drive in the second half.

“We’ve lost too many games like this — that’s the most frustrating thing,” Rodgers said following Green Bay’s latest setback. “We’ve had a chance in almost all our road games — especially against the Rams and the Patriots, and again tonight. We’re right there. But we just can’t get it done.”

Those struggles now have the Packers at 4-5-1, a good deal behind the 5-3-1 Vikings who occupy the final NFC playoff spot and have yet to play this week.
