As the NFL’s 4 p.m. trade deadline approached on Tuesday, the Broncos got things started by trading wide receiver Demaryius Thomas to the Houston Texans.

In exchange for the contract-year wideout, Denver received a fourth-round pick and will swap their seventh-rounder for Houston’s.

The next notable deal of the afternoon was made the Detroit Lions, who sent No. 1 pass-catcher Golden Tate to the Philadelphia Eagles for a third-round pick.

Shortly thereafter, the Packers sent hybrid back Ty Montgomery to the Ravens. Green Bay didn’t get much in return for the versatile player and only ended up with a 2020 seventh-round pick.

Green Bay also made another move and dealt safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix to Washington to help shore up an already-solid Redskins secondary in exchange for a 2019 fourth-round pick.

In another move involving a defensive player going to a team that’s already stacked on that side of the ball, the LA Rams acquired defensive end Dante Fowler from the Jaguars in exchange for a 2019 third-round pick and a 2020 fifth-round pick.

Elsewhere in the NFL, veteran wide receiver Brandon Marshall was released by the Seattle Seahawks and is now a free agent.

The Buffalo Bills also agreed to terms with wide receiver Terrelle Pryor.

Despite reports that the New York Giants were shopping him, one star receiver who stayed put on Tuesday was Odell Beckham Jr.
