Say what you will about LaVar Ball, but the man has vision. First, there was son Lonzo, who seems to be fitting in quite well on the Los Angeles Lakers. Now, there’s 16-year-old son LaMelo, whom Ball told the Los Angeles Times that he’ll be pulling out of high school to home-school and -train.
In other words, there won’t be all the hoopla—television cameras, press, screaming fans—surrounding Chino Hills High, like there has been for kids like Emoni Bates and LeBron James before him. “I’m going to make him the best basketball player ever,” the elder Ball told ESPN. “It’s good for Melo,” LaVar told the L.A. Times. “Less distractions. He just needs to focus.”
Apparently, Ball has taken issue with LaMelo’s new coach, whom he doesn’t “like one bit,” per ESPN.
The next time the world will be able to catch LaMelo Ball in action will be during next spring’s travel basketball.
