Jay Cutler Leaves Sport to Join NFL On Fox Broadcast Booth

Former Bears QB to join Kevin Burkhardt and Charles Davis for upcoming season.

Jets fans hoping for a Hail Mary that former Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler would sign on to lead the team for a season will have to tune in to see him.

That’s because the enigmatic signal-caller has just been hired as a broadcaster for NFL on Fox.

Cutler, the 34-year-old ex-quarterback for the Chicago Bears, will join Kevin Burkhardt and Charles Davis in the booth.

While the strong-armed slinger is hesitant to say that he’s retiring, it sure sounds like he is: “I don’t feel that anyone ever really retires from the NFL,” Cutler said in a statement. “You are either forced to leave, or you lose the desire to do what’s required to keep going. I’m in between those situations at this point in my life.”

Good Morning Football‘s Peter Schrager broke the story, and the NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo has said that Cutler is an interesting choice because he didn’t seek the spotlight much as an active player. His dry sense of humor and underrated football IQ could add a lot to the commentary booth, Garafolo said.
