One of the best cornerbacks in the NFL is going long.

The Kansas City Chiefs are trading All-Pro cornerback Marcus Peters to the Rams, according to Sports Illustrated.  Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports that the Rams will be sending “a package of draft picks” in exchange for Peters, who was the No. 18 pick in the 2015 draft.  The teams have officially agreed to the deal, ESPN is reporting, though it cannot be processed until March 14, when the new league year begins. The Chiefs also looked into receiving defensive end Robert Quinn along with a pick in the deal, but couldn’t get Rams to part with the player. Peters has been in Kansas City for three years. He earned Pro Bowl nods in each of his first two seasons and the All-Pro selection in 2016. He led the NFL in interceptions in his rookie season with eight and has led the league in interception return yards twice. Over his career, he has had 19 interceptions, five forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries.

The Rams could use the help after finishing 13th in the league in passing yards allowed last year. This is the second major trade the Chiefs has put in place already. Last month the traded quarterback Alex Smith to Washington for a third-round pick and cornerback Kendall Fuller.
