Are the Bears Looking to Bring Kareem Hunt Back to the NFL Already?

Chicago coach Matt Nagy said he believes in "second chances but not third chances."

During his time as the offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs, Matt Nagy established a strong relationship with ostracized running back Kareem Hunt.

Now, as the coach of the Chicago Bears, Nagy might be looking to revive that relationship and bring Hunt back to the National Football League.

Hunt, who was released by the Chiefs earlier this season after a video of him abusing a woman emerged, is on Commissioner Exempt list but could still be claimed by any team in the league.

While speaking with reporters earlier this week, Nagy did not shoot down the idea that team could be the Bears.

“I talked to Kareem, completely wanting to know how he’s doing,” Nagy said. “We had a good conversation [a week ago]. Here’s a kid that I spent a year coaching on offense. It’s a tough situation. I wanted to see – making sure that he’s OK but understanding, too, the situation that happened is unfortunate for everybody. He knows that.”

Nagy, who could certainly use a player of Hunt’s caliber on his offensively-challenged roster, added he believes in “second chances but not third chances.”

Even if it isn’t the Bears, it’s nearly a certainty that a team will take a chance on 23-year-old Hunt, who led the NFL in rushing yards in 2017.
