Hillary Clinton Insiders Seek Relevance After Crushing Loss

Hillary Clinton and her supporters are searching for a ways to stay relevant politically—and a noted journalist is adamant that she need to step aside for a new generation of Democratic Party leadership.

As she begins to fully emerge from the woods following her surprise loss to President Trump in November 2016, a new Vanity Fair article explores the current climate in “Clintonworld.”

“They want to retain influence because that’s what they do. That’s why scorpions sting. People underestimate this.”

It’s a space where her closest supporters, staffers, and even her detractors grapple with how Hillary will retain influence and expand her network without “bigfooting” the 2020 selection process for the Democratic Party.

“This is about political power,” one person close to the Clintons told Vanity Fair contributing writer William D. Cohan. “They want to retain influence. They want to build and expand their network. . . . They want to retain political influence in the process and that’s where it gets dicey.

“They want to retain influence because that’s what they do. That’s why scorpions sting. People underestimate this.”
