President Trump fired back at Kathy Griffin on Twitter Wednesday for her controversial photo shoot with Tyler Shields that depicted her holding up what appears to be the bloodied decapitated head of President Donald Trump.

The president’s response follows just hours after a now-contrite Griffin apologized for the imagery in a short video.

Initially, Griffin had been unapologetic about the shoot, saying that the image of her that had gone viral was an expression of art.

Criticism of the stunt was immediate, withering, and bipartisan with nearly everyone agreeing that she had crossed a line.

“I’m not sure there’s any human who dislikes Donald Trump as much as I do. However, the Kathy Griffin photo is f—ing awful on every level,” tweeted Andy Lassner, the producer of the Ellen show.

“I would love to see Kathy Griffin explain why she thought this disgusting photoshoot was acceptable. President Trump deserves an apology,” tweeted Ronna Romney McDaniel, the current chairwoman of the Republican National Committee.
