Site Allows Angry Democrats to Mail Their Remains to GOP

An Internet user has capitalized on backlash to the passing of the AHCA.

One Internet user has capitalized on the backlash to last week’s passage of the American Health Care Act in the House by creating a website where angry voters can sign up to mail their remains to members of Congress, Mic is reporting.

“Millions of Americans rely on protections and coverage from the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare. The [Republicans’] new bill will gut these protections and many will die,” the description on MailMeToTheGOP.com proclaims. “They deserve to know it. Fill out our form and we’ll help you get papers in order to send your ashes to a GOP member of Congress if you pass.”

The sardonic site was created by Zoey Jordan Salisbury as a place for users to both commiserate over the bill and make plans for life after death. It features a section of testimonies, of which some are harrowing.

“I will die because I’m a Type 2 diabetic. I will die because I’m a volunteer fireman and probably going to get cancer at some point. I will die because I went to the World Trade Center and didn’t have a respirator,” one anonymous user wrote.

There’s also more pragmatic options on the site for users to express their disapproval of the bill—which has yet to go through a vote in the Senate—including the contact information for various senators.

The Congressional Budget Office estimates that enacting the AHCA would reduce federal deficits by $337 billion over the next ten years, while increasing the number of people who are uninsured by 24 million.
