The price of former Hollywood Hills estate of highly eclectic (and bizarre) rock musician Frank Zappa has been reduced from $9 million to $5.495 million. The approximately 8,000-square-foot property is basically a giant, luxury hippie pad—with amenities including a rooftop tennis court, pool, two guest cottages, guest apartment, and professional recording studio (a.k.a. the “Utility Muffin Research Kitchen“). Part of the proceeds of the sale will go to releasing “The Vault,” Zappa’s giant library of unreleased material. (And yes, there is a great deal of it, considering he released 62 albums during his lifetime.) The property was at one point the ultimate swag for a Kickstarter campaign hosted by the Zappa family and filmmaker Alex Winter (Bill from Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure).
