Warner Bros. pulled out of the planned May 31 London premiere for Wonder Woman in the wake of the horrific bombing at Manchester Arena.
England is still reeling from the suicide bombing outside a Arianna Grande concert which left 22 dead and scores wounded.
“Our thoughts are with those affected by the recent tragedy in the U.K.,” the studio said in a statement. “In light of the current situation, we will not be proceeding with our plans for the Wonder Woman premiere and junket activities in London.”
Wonder Woman, which stars Gal Gadot as the DC Comics heroine, will have its Los Angeles premiere Thursday night.
The cancellation seems to be partly a security issue, with the announcement coming one day after British Prime Minister Theresa May increased the terrorism threat level from “severe” to “critical.”
It also comes as a stark contrast to Warner Bros. decision to go forward with its London premiere of Batman v. Superman last year—hours after terror attacks in Brussels left 32 dead—rather than “give in to terror.”
