The Met Breuer’s collection “Life Life” is a triumph for the museum, according to Roberta Smith’s review in the New York Times. The exhibit is sprawling, featuring sculptures of the human body from 1300 to the present, and including works by countless historically-prominent artists from Degas to Jeff Koons. There are representations of Jesus Christ, JFK, and Michael Jackson, to name some major figures in the catalog of western history out of which “Like Life” makes something coherent. According to Smith, the multi-floor exhibit is a victory for the Met Breuer, as it searches for identity in its third year under the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s management.
