Robert De Niro Gets Standing Ovation for Slamming Trump at Tony Awards

"I'm gonna say one thing. F--k Trump."

Robert De Niro got a standing ovation at Sunday night’s Tony Awards in New York for appearing on stage and declaring, “I’m gonna say one thing. F–k Trump.”

The audience applauded and rose to their feet. De Niro continued, “It’s no longer down with Trump. It’s f–k Trump.” The actor then continued on with what appeared to be a prepared introduced of Bruce Springsteen. CBS did have time to bleep out the f-word for TV audiences.

De Niro has long been a critic of Donald Trump. The actor called the president “totally nuts” in August 2016, and during the election campaign, de Niro released a video stating his desire to punch Trump in the face. In the video, de Niro called him “an idiot, a national disaster, an embarrassment to this country … this fool, this bozo,” according to The Guardian.
