Omarosa Manigault Newman was fired and forcibly removed from the White House after Secret Service agents blocked her path to President Donald Trump’s office, according to reports. Manigault Newman was a former contestant on Trump’s The Apprentice and was the director of communications in the Office of Public Liason. White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders issued a statement saying Manigault Newman resigned to “pursue other opportunities,” but a White House official told The Wall Street Journal that her departure was in fact “abrupt and confrontational.” Manigault Newman, 43, was “physically dragged and escorted off the campus.” April Ryan, White House bureau chief for American Urban Radio Networks and a CNN political analyst, said Chief of Staff John Kelly fired her. Ryan said that Manigault Newman was “very upset and said that she wanted to speak to the president” but Gen. Kelly said the president was already informed and signed off. Manigault Newman tried to walk over to the office but was stopped by an agent who then removed her.
