Amidst the #MeToo movement and the Time’s Up campaign, another step being taken to support women in Hollywood is salary transparency, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The gender pay gap has historically been protected in Hollywood by a code of secrecy regarding actor salaries. With the recent controversy over the pay discrepancy between Michelle Williams and Mark Walhberg for All the Money in the World, conversations about actor salaries are becoming more public. Women and Hollywood Founder Melissa Silverstein and Jessica Chastain both tweeted about particulars of Williams’ salary, a move that would’ve been considered taboo until recently and helped shed light upon the unequal pay.
