Though her first name comes from a character in Jacqueline Susann’s novel Once Is Not Enough, January Jones’s parents could have come up with it based on their daughter’s birth month.
Born 41 years ago on January 5th, Jones is best known for playing Betty Draper on AMC’s Mad Men and was nominated for two Golden Globes and a Primetime Emmy for her performance in that role.
Last year for her birthday Jones, who worked as a counter girl at Dairy Queen after school in the days before she got into acting, attempted to go to Pump to celebrate. However, the staff at Lisa Vanderpump’s iconic restaurant weren’t having it.
“I called Pump to try to do my party there,” Jones told Yahoo Lifestyle. “No one called me back. My publicist called. My best friend called. We called and called and called and called. It was over the holidays, but still. No one responded.”
Jones got so desperate she got the general manager’s number from Real Housewives producer Andy Cohen but still couldn’t get a response.
Since they wouldn’t serve her for her 40th, Jones served up some revenge, cold.
“Around New Year’s, I was going out to dinner and I said: ‘You know what, I’m going into Pump,’” she said. “I walked in there and I was like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. I was like: ‘Tried to call ya. Guess what: I’m not having my birthday party here. Big mistake. Big. Huge.’ They were like, ‘What? I’m so sorry. OMG. We can arrange it.’ I said: ‘Too late. Already having it at a different venue.’ So I was like peeved at them.”
Funny right?
But, if you follow her on Instagram, not all that surprising as Jones has a razor wit that meshes well with her sharp looks. Both are regularly on display on her account as you can see below.
