Four Sets of Identical Twins Play Prank on NYC Subway

Improv Everywhere set up the time-traveling skit with identical twins.

It was just like any other day on the New York City subway, someone was walking up and down the cars asking riders for money to build a time machine. Riders giggled at the odd request, but then another man — who looked a lot like the first — boarded the train and announced that he was the inventor’s future self, writes Gizmodo. The second man begged the riders not to give any money because “time travel will ruin everything.”

This might sound like a movie plot, but it was, in fact, an elaborate prank by the group Improv Everywhere. The two men entering the subway was just the beginning: as the train keeps going, more and more “time travelers” — four sets of identical twins in total — convene on the subway, “surprising the random commuters caught up in the middle.”

The group did the scene five times in total, all on the N train.

This isn’t the first time the group has used identical twins in their pranks, Gizmodo says. In a prank called “Human Mirror,” they filled a subway car with not just four sets of identical twins, but 15. And back in 2013, two sets of twins dressed as Marty McFly and his girlfriend from the movie, Back to the Future. Time travel seems to be a theme in their identical twin pranks.
