Changes are coming to this year’s Cannes Film Festival, as selfies will no longer be permitted on the red carpet, and press screenings will no longer take place ahead of premieres. According to Variety, Cannes artistic director Thierry Fremaux announced the change to press screenings in hopes of raising the profile of premiere galas. Press screening at 2018 Cannes will take place simultaneous to premiere screenings, in a different theater. The selfie ban is murkier, as taking pictures on the red carpet is still allowed, making the fact of enforcement potentially difficult. Attendees will see these changes in action when 2018 Cannes kicks off May 8.
