Actor Will Smith is reportedly in talks to take on the iconic role of Genie in the upcoming live-action remake of the 1992 classic Disney flick, Aladdin.

If Smith lands the role, he’ll have to fill the massive shoes of late comic genius Robin Williams, whose hilarious and charismatic portrayal of Aladdin’s blue sidekick charmed viewers around the world in the original.

Though it hasn’t yet been given a release date, Aladdin, is slated to be a musical, like the Broadway show of the same name, InStyle reports.

It’s part of Disney’s strategy of making remaking many of its classic animated films as live action movies, one that’s been a fairy tale come true for shareholders. The most recent one, Beauty and the Beast, has already passed the $1 billion mark at the box office.

Guy Ritchie is attached to direct the new version of Aladdin.
