Cirrus Aircraft’s Vision Jet makes upscale air travel affordable to a wide range of pilots and aircraft enthusiasts, and could have a huge impact on regional business travel in the process.

The single-engine, SF50 Vision Jet is about 31 feet long with a 39-foot wingspan, so it can fit inside a standard hangar, and it seats five to seven people. The zoned climate controls, leather interior, and large windows allow for both comfort and style in the air, and Cirrus’ patented Airframe Parachute System ensures safety. (If you’re wondering what that is, it’s an actual parachute that deploys out the plane’s tail section in the event of an emergency, lowering the plane to the ground.) Watch the parachute system in action below.

Those aren’t the only two areas where the Vision impresses. Its seamless, monocoque carbon fuselage is lighter and stronger than most other pressure vessels in its class, and the “piggyback” engine placement and V-tail design both help to reduce cabin noise. All told, this jet is ideal for traveling with business partners or clients—or just impressing them.

The Vision will have Federal Aviation Administration approval by the end of 2016, at which point it will begin delivering its 600 preorders. If you’re in the market for a personal jet, the standard package for the Cirrus Jet starts at $2 million.
