Former press secretary Sean Spicer stopped by Jimmy Kimmel’s late night show to talk President Trump’s tweets, Melissa McCarthy’s famous impression of him and why he chose to leave his post when Anthony Scaramucci became White House Communications Director.
“It wasn’t personal. It wasn’t that I had anything against Anthony,” Spicer told Kimmel.
“Anthony has been very successful in business. He’s made a lot of money. I just didn’t feel he had the qualifications or the background to work in the communications office. My view was that if I’m going to have to partner with somebody that I didn’t believe had the skillset to execute the job, then it was incumbent upon me to step aside or make my voice known.”
Spicer went on to say that, while he doesn’t think it’s right to relish in someone else’s problems, Scaramucci’s infamous profane rant that led to his untimely ousting proved Spicer’s point: The Mooch didn’t have the experience needed for the role.
“I think it proved my point that to do this job you have to have the proper background and training,” Spicer said. Kimmel didn’t let him off that easy, quipping: ”I imagine you high-fiving everyone there.”
