The second season of the critically-acclaimed Netflix series The Crown will launch on December 8, according to Variety.
Netflix dropped the release date along with a full trailer for the season on Thursday.
Taking place from 1956 to 1964, the series follows the story of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign “as the fragile social order after the Second World War breaks apart,” writes Variety. Soldiers in her Majesty’s Armed Forces are fighting an illegal war in Egypt, while her third Prime Minister, Harold Macmillan, is involved in a devastating scandal. The queen must adjust to the style of the 60s, meet JFK, and travel the world, according to New York.
Season 1 of The Crown won two Golden Globe awards and has been nominated for 10 Emmy Awards. It is based on the play The Audience.
