Can ‘House of Cards’ predict the future?

Actor Kevin Spacey stopped by Stephen Colbert’s Late Show last night to talk about the upcoming fifth season of House of Cards, which returns to Netflix on Tuesday, May 30.

Colbert steered the conversation into politics, probing Spacey over whether comparisons could be made between Spacey’s character, Frank Underwood, and President Donald Trump.

The actor wasn’t willing to draw hard lines in the sand, but did have this to say: “At some point between when we shot the season and before it drops, three or four or five things we have dealt with on the show happen in the real world.” He went on to say that this upcoming season, which he says “has never been more relevant,” didn’t rip parts of the plot from the headlines.

“We did it first.”
