The timing doesn’t get much better than this—at least for late night comedy hosts.

Stephen Colbert hosted a special episode of The Late Show Tuesday with his former The Daily Show colleagues John Oliver, Samantha Bee, Ed Helms, Rod Corddry, and Jon Stewart himself. But just minutes before the show began, news broke that President Trump had fired FBI Director James B. Comey amid an investigation into the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia.

With little time to prepare, Stewart and Colbert improvised to talk about politics, President Trump, and whether or not Stewart missed having his own television show during breaking news events like the Comey firing.
