There are school administrators in Exeter, Pa., who are wishing they would have just let Peter Butera finish talking.
Late night host Jimmy Kimmel brought the senior class president and valedictorian on Live! last night to finish the speech he tried to deliver at his high school graduation last week in Pennsylvania. Butera, who was elected class president for all four years at Wyoming Area Secondary Center and is Villanova-bound, had his microphone cut off in the middle of delivering a blistering message for administrators.
“At our school, the title of class president can more accurately be class party planner,” Butera said in recorded video of the graduation. “Student council’s main obligation is to paint signs every week.”
Butera’s school principal, Jon Pollard, can be seen grimacing next to Butera before mouthing to someone offstage. A few moments later, Butera’s mic is cut. If Pollard had known then what he does now, he probably would have let Butera finish while the speech was still only being recorded by his parents and friends.
The Kimmel video has already climbed to #10 on YouTube’s top trending videos just hours after it was posted.
