Unlike most of the characters on Game of Thrones, the franchise itself will live on.
That’s according to IGN, who’s reporting that HBO is in the process of developing a potential quartet of spinoffs with GoT author George R.R. Martin, as well as showrunner David Benioff and executive producer D.B. Weiss.
Per the report, the screenwriters who have been tapped to develop follow-ups include Martin, of course; as well as Max Borenstein (Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island); Jane Goldman (Kingsman: The Secret Service); Brian Helgeland (LA: Confidential, Robin Hood); and Carly Wray (Mad Men, The Leftovers). (Martin is teaming with Goldman and Wray on separate scripts.)
As was announced at the South-by-Southwest conference in March, the final season of Game of Thrones, which will air sometime in 2018, will only be six episodes long.
But don’t lose your head just yet; there’s still Season 7, which is set to premiere on July 16. Watch the latest teaser below.
