A blast of winter arrived on the summer solstice.

HBO unleashed the second trailer for the seventh season of Game of Thrones on Wednesday, complete with previously unseen footage of Jon Snow (Kit Harington) apparently heading back into the frigid north to battle the undead White Walkers.

“For centuries, our families fought together against their common enemy, despite their differences—together,” Snow says in a voiceover. “We need to do the same if we’re going to survive, because the enemy is real. It’s always been real.”

But there appears to be plenty happening in the more temperate parts of Westeros, too. Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) can be seen arriving at her family’s ancestral home of Dragonstone, while her army gets its spears bloodied in one of the large-scale battles for which the fantasy series is famous.

The penultimate season of the hit series, based on author George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Fire and Ice novels, debuts on July 16.
