From 1997 to 2000, Jimmy Kimmel shared a stage with Ben Stein on Comedy Central game show Win Ben Stein’s Money, where contestants had the chance to actually win $5,000 of Stein’s money. The two had clear chemistry, and it was a highly enjoyable watch (see if you can dig up some clips on YouTube).
So it was a mini-reunion last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live, when the 71-year-old Stein appeared as a guest. Topics included the Kimmel-Stein origin story and the guest’s general distaste for both presidential hopefuls, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.
But a fact that often gets lost in the shuffle is that Stein was a speechwriter for President Richard Nixon and spent a portion of his career in the Nixon White House. Here, he tells a story about how he met rock-and-roll legend Elvis Presley, after the artist made a famously unannounced visit.
