Thanks to his subpar start, talking heads and fans are questioning whether or not bringing in slugger Giancarlo Stanton is going to be worth it for the New York Yankees.
Worth it or not, the Yanks can certainly afford to pay his $25 million salary.
Following the Yankees on the list are the Dodgers ($3 billion) Cubs ($2.9 billion), Giants ($2.85 billion) and Red Sox ($2.8 billion). All of those teams saw an increase in value of between 4% to 9% as compared to last year.
On the other end of the spectrum, the Marlins are worth $1 billion, while the Rays are only worth $900 million. However, considering the Rays were only worth $200 million when they were purchased by Stuart Sternberg in 2004, that’s not that bad. The same can’t be said for Miami:
