Seahawks WR: Kirk Cousins is a ‘Hero’ for Securing Guaranteed $86 Million Deal From Vikings

Doug Baldwin credited the QB for paving the way for more players to get fully guaranteed contracts.

After two straight years of betting on himself by playing under the franchise tag, Kirk Cousins is poised to cash in on his gamble in a big way.

Although the deal can’t be made official until tomorrow, the quarterback will reportedly be getting a three-year contract from the Minnesota Vikings that includes approximately $86 million guaranteed.

His old bosses in Washington probably don’t agree, but at least one of Cousins’ peers is calling him a “hero” for refusing to take a non-guaranteed deal with the Redskins and playing under the franchise tag until he could hit free agency.

When news of the 29-year-old’s pact with the Vikings became official, Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin tweeted:

When Baldwin signed his five-year contract with Seattle in 2016, only about half of the $47.5 million deal was fully guaranteed ($24.25 million), so it’s easy to see why he’s giving Cousins so much respect believing in himself.
