After already going across the pond and south of the border, the National Football League could be bringing American football Down Under.
It’s somewhat of a Hail Mary, but representatives from the Australian state of Queensland have reportedly had discussions with NFL officials about bringing a game there in the future.
As Queensland tourism minister Kate Jones pointed out, where the NFL goes, Americans will likely follow.
“We have a deliberate focus at the moment in growing American tourism to Queensland and what better way to get Americans here than an NFL game,” Jones said, 9 News reported.
It’s a logical argument, but the problem – which the NFL has already talked about – is the logistics of navigating the distance and different time zones would make it difficult to bring a game, even a preseason one, to Australia.
A previous attempt to bring an NFL game to Australia in 2014 was unsuccessful.
