The Alliance of American Football will be suspending all football operations within the next few hours, a source with knowledge of the situation tells ProFootballTalk.

The league, which already needed an in-season influx of $250 million to make it this long, is not folding yet but it is on the verge of doing so.

A call will be held will all players and staff this afternoon to brief them about the situation, according to ESPN.

With two weeks left in the season, the AAF won’t be able to finish its inaugural year without about $20 million of cash coming its way.

On the other end of the spectrum, the XFL appears to be in a good shape ahead of its scheduled reboot in 2020.

In advance of the league’s kickoff, Vince McMahon has sold $272 million worth of WWE stock with the majority of that money being intended for use with the XFL.

“Mr. McMahon executed the sale primarily to fund a separate entity from the Company . . . which Mr. McMahon established to explore investment opportunities across the sports and entertainment landscapes, including launching a professional football league under the name ‘XFL’,” the company said in its SEC filing.

Last time McMahon and the XFL attempted to challenge the NFL, they only lasted a single season.

McMahon seems determined to not let that happen this time around.
