On Monday night the national champion Clemson Tigers in attendance, the White House was filled with the sweet smells of burgers, fries, pizza, and victory.
To commemorate the Tigers’ win over Alabama in college football’s championship game, President Trump ordered up a menu of fast food from McDonald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s, and Domino’s featuring pizzas, salads, chicken nuggets, fries, and 300 burger sandwiches.
To class it up, the “Great American food” was served on silver platters on a long mahogany table placed under an enormous golden chandelier.
According to Spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders, President Trump personally paid for the event to “be catered with some of everyone’s favorite fast foods.”
Perhaps that claim should be taken with a grain of salt.
“We ordered American fast food, paid for by me. Lots of hamburgers, lots of pizza,” Trump said after returning to the White House from a trip to New Orleans. “We have some very large people that like eating, so I think we’re going to have a little fun.”
Though he didn’t disclose the tab, estimates put the bill at around $3,000.
