On Monday, Odell Beckham Jr. agreed to a Giant contract extension that should keep him in New York for the next five NFL seasons.
And make him the highest-paid receiver in the league in the process.
The long-rumored deal runs through 2023 and is worth $95 million overall, including $65 million guaranteed.
The average annual value and amount of guaranteed cash are both new records for a receiver and surpass Antonio Brown’s $17 million per year average salary in Pittsburgh and the $55 million in total guarantees Mike Evans received from Tampa Bay.
The deal sets the stage for the 25-year-old wideout, who has 38 touchdowns through 47 NFL games, to return to the field for New York’s first game of the season on September 9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Beckham is set to make $8.5 million this season on the fifth-year option of his rookie deal but will be getting a good amount more this season once pencil hits paper thanks to the extension.
$56.5M is the new guaranteed money portion of this deal. The base figure is approximately $90M.
