It’s Not Too Early to Make NFL Draft Predictions

Peter King expects the Cleveland Browns to draft Sam Darnold at No. 1 overall.

The Northeast may not have gotten the memo, but spring is officially here, which means it’s time for flowers to bloom, birds to sing and NFL insiders to make predictions about the upcoming draft.

In a new piece for SI’s “Monday Morning Quarterback,” Peter King did just that.

According to the veteran sportswriter, the Browns will draft Sam Darnold of USC with the first overall pick, potentially filling the void at quarterback that has existed in Cleveland for nearly a decade.

He then expects the Bills to trade up with the Giants to take Wyoming QB Josh Allen second overall. With the third pick, King sees the Jets drafting Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield.

In a twist, King predicts the Giants will execute a second trade and move into the fourth slot (in place of Cleveland) to select Penn State running back Saquon Barkley instead of UCLA quarterback.  Josh Rosen.

As for five, we’ll let King tell ya: “I think GM John Elway thinks hard, thinks of Rosen, and gets the You cannot pass on Bradley Chubb here because we’ll have the best pass-rush in football for the next five years talk from his staff. So, five weeks from the draft (and it will change nine times till then) give me, 1 through 5, Darnold, Allen, Mayfield, Barkley and Chubb.”
