NFL Used Polling Firm to Ask Public If Kaepernick Should Be Signed

The Washington consulting firm asked about a number of league concerns.

Last year, the NFL hired a Washington polling firm to ask Americans about a number of important league concerns, including the free-agent status of quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Sources familiar with the league’s research told Yahoo Sports that The Glover Park Group polled fans about whether Kaepernick should have been signed by a team following criticism from President Trump over players protesting the national anthem.

Although the consulting firm asked about other league issues including domestic violence, gambling and player safety, Kaepernick was the only player to be singled out by name.

With regard to Kaepernick, the firm specifically asked respondents if they felt he should have been signed by an NFL team and if they believed the reason he was still a free agent was due to kneeling during the national anthem or because his on-field performance had slipped.

The existence of the data could be a boon for Kaepernick’s ongoing collusion case against the league especially because Glover Park’s findings were sent directly to Roger Goodell and other NFL executives.
