NFL Insiders Rank the League’s Most Improved Teams

The New York Jets, San Francisco 49ers and Cleveland Browns all made big strides in free agency.

Although it’s still early in the NFL’s less-than-a-week-old free agency period, it’s not too early to judge which teams have been the big winners.

To do that, ESPN gathered NFL Insiders Dan Graziano, Field Yates, KC Joyner, Aaron Schatz and Michael Sando and asked them about which teams have improved the most in free agency.

For Graziano, it’s the Jets, as he believes adding cornerback Trumaine Johnson and linebacker Avery Williamson solidifies a defense that was already decent. Bringing in Isaiah Crowell at running back and potential starter Teddy Bridgewater at quarterback were also good moves.

For his pick, Schatz looks all the way across the country to what the 49ers have added in San Francisco. In addition to signing franchise quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to an extension before he could hit free agency, the 49ers brought in versatile running back Jerick McKinnon and added some pieces to their offensive line. On the other side of the ball, the addition of top corner Richard Sherman could be a huge boon if he’s fully recovered from an Achilles injury.

As for the rest of the Insider picks, Joyner selected the Texans, Sando selected the Browns and Yates selected the Bears.
