After Josh McDaniels blitzed the Indianapolis Colts by reneging on an agreement to coach the team, the anger towards the once- and future- New England Patriots offensive coordinator seems to reach far beyond the boundaries of the Circle City.

ESPN huddled with three league insiders to get their take on whether or not McDaniels would ever get another head-coaching offer after such a high-profile snub.

“I don’t think he can ever be a head coach in the NFL,” one former GM told the network. “I wouldn’t take a chance hiring him. I know it is a stressful time, but what happens again with Josh when the s— gets tight? Does he do the same thing? That is what I would worry about in hiring him as a head coach. That is why I would just pass.”

The other two experts were less certain the stigma would linger over time if McDaniels continued to have success in New England.

“If the owner develops a relationship with him, he has a chance,” one of the execs said, “but GMs will be scared to death.”
