To bolster their football program, the Wolverines are going after a cub.

A seventh-grade quarterback at MacArthur Academy in Michigan has been offered a scholarship to play at the University of Michigan, the youngest athlete ever to receive an offer from UM.

Isaiah Marshall received the offer from Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh after he watched tape of the 13-year-old throw while he was at the school on the lookout for high school prospects.

“It was definitely unexpected, especially when you’re just looking for feedback on how to get better,” Brian Marshall, Isaiah’s father, said. “That came out of it. Harbaugh called me, because I was on my way over there and he was there early with my brother. They called me on the phone and asked if that was OK and of course I said yes.”

Other teams have shown interest in Isaiah, but none have made any formal scholarship offers.

Maybe it isn’t all that surprising considering the seventh-grade standout already has his own highlight reels which he shares on social media.
