Carved out by mammoth glaciers over the centuries, Norway’s fjords are some of the Scandinavian country’s most memorable natural wonders. They offer adventure-seekers ample hiking, boating, climbing, and BASE jumping. When it comes to the latter, Kjerag stands above the rest.
A mountain that forms the southern edge of the Lysefjord, Kjerag is dotted with cliffs that have 3,300-foot vertical drops. The mountain’s sheer height, coupled with its beautiful scenery and waters below, has made it one of the most popular sites in the world for BASE jumping. Over 48,000 BASE jumps have been attempted there since 1994. Greatly adding to that staggering number is Heliboogie, an annual BASE jumping festival that takes place on the mountain.
