Kareem Hunt Suspended 8 Games By NFL for Assaulting Woman in Video

As we know, violating the NFL’s drug policy or allegedly deflating footballs is worthy of a four-game suspension from the league.

Now we know how many games punching and kicking a woman in a viral video will cost an NFL player: eight games.

Former Kansas City Chief running back Kareem Hunt, now a member of the new-look Cleveland Browns, has been suspended eight games by the NFL for violations of the NFL Personal Conduct Policy.

The violations are connected to “physical altercations at his residence in Cleveland last February and at a resort in Ohio last June.” That’s the nice way of saying a video showing him shoving and kicking a woman last February was obtained by TMZ and went viral.

In factoring the length of the suspension, the NFL took into account that Hunt missed the final five games of the season last year after the video was released and he was placed on the NFL Commissioner’s exempt list after being cut by the Chiefs.

Hunt, 23, is not going to appeal the suspension.

“I want to again apologize for my actions last year,” he said following the suspension. “I know that my behavior hurt a lot of people, and I again apologize to them. I respect the league’s decision on discipline, and I appreciate the time I spent with Commissioner Goodell last week. I’m grateful for my time with the Browns over the last month and thankful to all the people in the organization that have welcomed me. I also appreciate all of the support I received from my union through this process. My commitment to earning the trust of the league, my teammates, the organization and this community through my actions will continue, and I understand there is a lot of hard work ahead of me before I’m able to fully return to playing the game I love.”
