After conquering the internet when the Philadelphia Flyers introduced him last month, Gritty the mascot may have set his sights on dominating another arena: politics.

During Tuesday’s election, the big orange mascot collected a number of write-in votes in Camden, New Jersey.

Along with other “candidates” like Bill Cosby, Voldemort, and Communist, Gritty collected a number of votes, 14 in all.

The votes were spread out over a number of positions – two for Camden County Sheriff, two for the U.S. House in N.J. District 1, and 10 votes for open Board of Education seats – but none were enough to get Gritty in office.

Gritty also collected write-in votes in other elections across the country.

Actually, way more than you might think if what the Flyers posted on the Jumbotron on Thursday night during their game against the Coyotes is to be believed.
